Do you find yourself having to go into downtown Greenville often, just for a night on the town? Do you wish Mauldin had a place for nightlife and shopping areas? Some place to call its own? Well, hopefully you won’t have to wait much longer! According to The Greenville News, the city council is meeting October 18, 2010 to give updates for building ordinances to hopefully begin the process of creating a center to the city of Mauldin.

As one of South Carolina’s fastest growing cities, Mauldin is without a downtown common area for its residents. The city hopes to attract residents who drive to downtown Greenville for their entertainment, shopping, and eating out. Planners are hoping to build and revitalize two- and three-story buildings with quaint shops, restaurants, and apartments with ample parking to accommodate shoppers and residents.

The possible area for a downtown center runs from Jenkins Street to the north, it could even stretch to the vacant Burger Kind and Taco Bell on U.S. 276.
